The City of Plano's short-term rental ordinance takes effect on August 1, requiring all applications for registration to be submitted by the deadline. The ordinance, approved in April, bans most new short-term rentals in single-family neighborhoods but allows them in special zoning districts. Over 212 applications have been received, with a registration fee of $300 per property. Non-compliance will result in violations and is classified as a Class C Misdemeanor. The city aims to address issues related to loud parties and illegal activities at STR properties.
