First-time homebuyers made up 21% of Texas residential property purchases in 2025, slightly above the 20% low in 2024. The median age of buyers was 58, matching the 2024 high. Cash purchases rose to 30%, more than double 2017 levels. Most sellers reduced their asking price multiple times before sale. Homeownership duration before selling reached an all-time high of 11 years nationally.
