Collin County’s tax bills are expected to rise — even with little change to the tax rate

Despite the Collin County Commissioners voting to lower the tax rate for the upcoming fiscal year, most homeowners in the county will still be paying more in property taxes due to the average home value increasing by 14%. This is because the county could not lower the tax rate to the no-new revenue rate, which they have adopted in past years, in order to keep up with the costs of growth due to the county being the third-fastest growing in the nation. The commissioners have also proposed four bond propositions totaling $683 million to help fund county services.
