Selling Your Home Quickly – Tips to Follow Once It’s On the Market

Dear Homeowner,

Once you’ve got the home on the market, your life is going to change.

….There’s an old saying: “You don’t sell a house the same way you live in a house,” and it is very true.

From now until you have a solid purchase contract, you’re going to have to think about the fact that buyers could want to see your house at almost any time – and you may not be available to tidy up when you learn that they’re on the way.

You could restrict your showing hours – but that will also restrict your chances of a sale, so it’s not a good idea. It’s better to remain “Show ready” at all times.

To accomplish that, you should enlist cooperation from everyone in your household.

For instance:

  • Coats, shoes, and boots go in the closet when they come off.
  • The dishes get washed and put away immediately following the meal.
  • Dishes from snacks get stashed in the dishwasher. The laundry gets folded
  • Toys go in the toy box as part of getting ready for bed.
  • Towels get hung neatly or tossed in a covered hamper.
  • All personal mail etc. goes into a drawer or file – never left on counters or desktops. Money and credit cards go in wallets, purses, or a locked drawer / safe.
  • Today’s clothing either goes back in the closet or in the hamper as you get ready for bed. Beds are made immediately upon rising.
  • Toiletries and other personal care items go back into the drawer or cupboard immediately after use.

Living in a “show home” isn’t the easiest task in the world.

But it will help your home stand out from the rest.

Yours Truly,

Debbie
